When Stephan R. Blum, Ph.D., bought four pieces of land in the Drywood River Valley and consolidated them into one piece he did so with the hope of conserving the land and encouraging the fescue grass to recover. Now, his property is one of the proposed sites for a transmission tower as part of Altalink’s Goose Lake to Etzikom Coulee Transmission Project.
The transmission project is in its early stages with the proposed routes skirting around to the south of the Blood Reserve.
“We have been in discussions with the Blood Reserve and with the band,” said Leanne Niblock, Altalink Media Relations. “We anticipate as we go through that process we should have some possible route options that would cross the reserve as well.”
